Christchurch earthquake
I'm a bit late off the mark on this one but I want to assure all followers of this blog that Rory and I are fine. We didn't even feel the massive quake that has devasted Christchurch in the South Island. While this quake measured less on the Richter scale than the Sept 9 shake, it was closer to the surface and there was a lot more horizontal movement.
A national state of emergency has been declared. The fatality rate stands at 75 but people are still being pulled from detroyed buildings.
All our Chch friends are fine and one is even flying out asap to stay with us for a while.
Scarey time but it's amazing how the entire country can pull together at a time like this.
